Rock & Roll State!

David Jones has a good article on the music behind the Penn State Student section last year. Zombie Nation's "Kernkraft 400" was the tune that fired up the crowd to near insanity! Well, apparently the newest addition to PSU's arsenal of inspiration will be "Seven Nation Army" by the White Stripes. I think this would be a good choice but I think it should be opened up to the people. Have a write-in contest. Maybe I'd choose Bulls On Parade (Rage Against the Machine), or maybe Closing Time (Semisonic)! You know, something to really light a fire in people. Anyway.... The Article is good and one of the highlights is this little blurb from a former OSU player about the atmosphere at Beaver Stadium during the ohio state game:
one Ohio State player told him (Michael Robinson) of the chaos on its sideline as the staff and players argued over which audibles, if any, could be used amid the din.
This was cool too:
Penn State's football crowd suddenly acquired such renown around the nation last fall that it became a sensation. ESPN's Kirk Herbstreit, a former Ohio State quarterback, witnessed firsthand the Beaver bedlam and declared it, "the best student section in the nation," during a College GameDay telecast, a quote not lost on PSU's promotional minions who've used it on 2006 wallet schedules.
The Student Section has always been amped, but now it seems like a madhouse! If only all the old people in the other sections would stand up and cheer half as hard as the Students!

GO STATE!!! GET FIRED UP!
