Irish Saturday!

The ND vs. PSU game should be a fantastic one. I've been trying to figure out what will be the most interesting matchup: ND offense against PSU defense, or, PSU offense against ND defense? Whenever either offensive squad is on the field there is big-time talent lining up. Brady Quinn, Jeff Samardzija, and Darius Walker lining up against Poz (a bear-man), Dan Connor, and J-King on D. I would imagine that PSU will but King on Samardzija making it the best matchup on the field. When PSU has the ball we will be treated to AMMO, D-Will, and Tony Hunt leading the attack on a rejuvenated Irish defense.

I've read the articles about ND defense and the training regime employed in the off-season to develop speed. Tom Zbikowski can knock a man out in 42 seconds or something crazy but can he crush what he can't catch? If both squads play up to their potential the scores could range from a defensive struggle to a shootout.

If I had to pick a difference maker in the game I think it will be special teams. With Derrick Williams and A.J. Wallace returning kicks and punts I think that will be the game-breaker for Penn State.

Prediction:
PSU: 23
ND: 20
(if you can't tell it's the blog of a homer)

Vegas has the game ND -7.5 (what do I know!?!?!?)

GO STATE! Beat The Irish!

Why does ESPN have an utter refusal to discuss this game? They cover tOSU and Texas non-stop (I am aware they are #1 and #2), but last week they couldn't stop fellating Charlie Weis and Brady Quinn. And now that they are not showing this game? No one is allowed to talk about it. Notre who? Joe what?

They're too busy hyping OSU-Texas, which is on their network. It's all about ratings. Isn't it interesting ESPN picked OSU to win the national title? Hey, doesn't OSU play in the Big Ten? And didn't the Big Ten and ESPN just sign a contract to show a boatload of Big Ten games on ESPN and ABC? Hmmm...You don't suppose they would be hyping a Big Ten team to boost their ratings, do you?

The game is going to be awesome and 1 vs. 2 should be the game of the day. But do we really want the Domers to be whipped into a bigger frenzy for their home opener? Lets keep it low-key and maybe only 4 ND fans will show up!
