BCS and Beyond!

There has been a lot of debate about the BCS, so I'm going to come out in support of the maligned computer system. The Computers spit PSU out at #29, not a terrible position for a 5-3 team. The Polls have PSU completely out of sight of the top 25 (PSU got 3 votes in the AP, and 5 in the Coaches Poll).

I don't think PSU is that bad a football team. The Lions have only lost to three top-ten BCS teams (two on the road and one at home). I'm not saying all the games were close, or that Penn State deserves to be ranked in the top 15. What I am saying is: the computers see what the pollsters don't. PSU has had a tough schedule so far.

The schedul remaining doesn't look very easy either. PSU has road games against Purdue, and Wisconsin and home games agains Temple (well, that one should be easy), and (a very inconsistent) MSU team. Is there potential for another loss lurking in that schedule? Sure. If the Lions win-out do they deserve a good bowl game? Absolutely!

There has been a lot of questions flying regarding PSU's offense, and fairly so. They clearly aren't performing up to where they should be. But the possibility for a very good season, and a good bowl game, remain. So lets not get too down on the Lions too early!

GO STATE! BEAT THE BOILERMAKERS!

I'm just saying that at this point in the season 5-3 isn't the worst place to be. There is also still a SHOT at winning out. If it happens remember who still believed.

Different Mike.

How does the saying go? Once a fluke. Twice a coincidence. Three times a trend.

Was Illinois a fluke or coincidence? I'm hoping a fluke. If we see the team that beat Minnesota without the mistakes, we should be ok against Purdue. I think we're all scared because we don't know what to expect. We're out of our comfort zones.
