Too Close For Comfort

To say the Nittany Lions played well against the lowly Illinis would be a complete misstatement. The Lions played just well enough to win, scoring 9 pts in the last 2 minutes of the game disguises that fact.

The Lions only had 11 first downs, only 184 total offensive yards, only 40 rushing yards! Where has the O-line gone? (other than down the tubes!) What saved the Lions was the defense and special teams who scored 16 of PSU’s 26 points! While this is a great contribution from the defense and special teams, there has to be more offensive production for PSU to be successful.

The Defense played fairly well, they did give up a lot of yards (200+ on the ground) but did not give up a touchdown. Poz had a bear-like day,

he racked up 13 tackles and forced a fumble. Dan Connor, or Captain Underrated, chipped in with 12 tackles and a sack for a safety.

AMMO had a reasonable day, he completed over 50% of his passes and threw for a TD. However, he also tossed a pick and only picked up 144 yards on 18 completions. The offense is strug-gel-ling. PSU needs more offensive production than they got today if they are hoping to win-out and get to a quality bowl game.

Hey -- Regarding betUS.com, it took them a while to send the money for the blog sponsorship (10 days, maybe), but I just got it two or three days ago. Supposedly, the girl who first contacted me left the company, which explains the delay. They certainly seem nice enough.
