Tailgating and PSU

As the start of the 2006 season draws closer the talk around the water cooler and the blogosphere are turning to tailgating. I personally have acquired a new smoker and plan on making some ribs on gameday. That is, if I can figure it out before Saturday. (tips are appreciated) It isn't really the same because I live in the middle of the Mohave desert....definitely not Happy Valley, more like Death Valley. I was still shocked to learn that Penn State is limiting tailgating during the game!
As in past years, drinking alcohol is not permitted inside Beaver Stadium. This year the University also is prohibiting tailgate parties in the lots around Beaver Stadium between kick-off and the final whistle. It seems more like the university is trying to prevent all-out drinking parties going on during the game.
As a person who has participated in some of these drinking parties I take offense. This will also limit the atmosphere of pre-game and postgame because not as many people will be at the tailgates because they don't have tickets. All in all I am against banning tailgating during the game but I'm also just an idiot with a smoker in the desert...soooo....yeah. We also won a poll for best tailgate in America last year.

I hope this doesn't have an effect on PSU's reputation as one of the best places to be on a football Saturday!

GO STATE!! PARTY HARD!
