The first rankings are out, do the ones before any games are played really count? Penn State held steady in both polls after handily defeating a team they should have handily defeated. Cal completely plummeted and conversely Tenn's stock is soaring (jumping to #11 and 17 in the polls). ND is ranked fourth in both polls and they should be. They beat a pretty good GaTech team on the road and if you win you shouldn't fall in the rankings. But now on to the witty and insightful prognostication you came for:
Four things I know about the PSU vs. ND game:
1. This will be the most old school matchup of the year. From the uniforms to the endzones both teams drip tradition wherever they go.
2. This will be a big test for both teams. PSU needs to prove they belong amongst the top teams in college football and a win at ND will do that. ND needs to beat a ranked team to silence those who criticized their "resurgence".
3. Gameday should be in South Bend but they will be drawn down to Austin to watch Texas and Tosu. I'm actually kind of glad about this one. If you are on the road why would you want to be playing in the biggest game of the week?
4. If Joe isn't careful he may be pulled into orbit around Charlie Weis. (BA-ZING!)
GO STATE! BEAT THE IRISH!
