PSU Players Are Terribly Bright

No, Seriously.

Penn State football has announced that 45 members of the team have at least a 3.0 GPA. That is pretty good right? By my count, there are 86 kids on the team which means that about 52% of the team has a 3.0 or higher GPA. I have no idea if this percentage is particularly impressive or what the average GPA is among big time college football program.

I'm not out to try to grind on these guys for their grades. College football is a tremendous drain on the time of these guys. Don't kid yourselves. Being a Penn State Football player is a full time job. I mean these guys are in class, on the field, in the gym, studying or asleep for about 99% of the day. The fact that the grades of these kids don't resemble the grades from animal house is really great.
Good Work Lions!

GO STATE! KEEP THEM GRADES UP!

Don't be too impressed. In 2006, the last grade distribution report for PSU, 61% of students had a GPA above 3.0 Grade inflation is as bad here as anywhere else. In one college the average cumulative GPA was 3.41
