You Can't Freeze Your Nuts Off For Paternoville!

Students could be barred from forming Paternoville for the Michigan State game this week. The Collegian is reporting that should the weather drop below 32 degrees the passionate students will be forced to abandon Paternoville until the temperature warms up. Diabolical, yet pragmatic, sons of bitches!

This isn't a mere threat, the goddamn police will come to your tent at 11 PM and force you from your tent if the temperature is expected to dip below 32 degrees.

"There's going to be a stronger police presence at night than in the past just because of potential conditions," Boroch said. "Each night at 11, if temperatures are expected to go below 32, the police are going to come and essentially kick everyone out at Paternoville. They're going to go to all the tents and make sure no one is there."

Let the kids go out there and freeze until they are blue! Perhaps a lovely shade of Navy Blue.

Your zeal for PSU will keep your warm.

You are the future caretakers of the proud traditions Penn State has established over the last few years as well as the ones which have been around for 100 years. You are responsible for dressing in white and screaming until you are hoarse on Saturdays.

You must guard the Lion shrine. (Though, as far as I know, this will only apply to Syracuse next year)

Paternoville Is Back for Ohio St.

The Collegian is reporting that about 100 brave campers reestablished Paternoville despite the rain.

The Student section is going to be fired up! Thi s game has to be as eagerly anticipated as the 2005 game. It might be a cold, miserable day but football fans are going to be treated to something special on Saturday night!

Pack Your Tent!

There will be a Paternoville for this weeks giant match-up with Ohio State. The Collegian is reporting that the Students have been given permission to start early (12:01 a.m. Tuesday)! There are a few other changes to the beloved football town:

1.First, as suggested by the administration, there will be an emergency aisle down the middle of the tents, in case a camper is hurt and also to aid in picking up trash, he said.

Certainly a reasonable restriction. Safety first!

2. If the temperature drops to below freezing before Friday, campers will have to leave and lose their spots. The PCC, with the athletic department, plans to create a wristband system to reserve spots in line, although the wristbands would be passed out on Friday at the earliest.

These, however, are not the only suggestions for this week's game. There are students wanting people to wear goggles to the game (to cut down on the effects of pepper-spray during a field charge) and to bring blue glow-sticks to the game. I don't think it matters as long as you are a fired up, white-clad, screaming, madman you should be fine!

Oh, and Gameday will be in town too. Not that there is much excitement for this weeks game or anything.

The Low Down on Paternoville

The Collegian is reporting that Penn State officials are discussing the future of Paternoville. The big news is that the University is so pleased with the way students have been conducting themselves that the extended Paternoville time we saw for Notre Dame will be applied to a future game this year.

Because of Paternoville campers' good behavior at the Notre Dame campout, the university is granting one more extended campout, PCC President Tom Boroch (sophomore-meteorology) said.

"The campout will either be for the Wisconsin or the Ohio State game," Boroch said. "Those are the two home games that are left on the schedule, and the final decision would be made in early- to mid-October."

That is great! PSU= the classiest school in all the land!

Saying that Penn State students are extremely fired up for the Notre Dame game this weekend is an understatement. The Collegian is reporting that hundreds of students are currently camped out for the game and that some players came to support the fans last night.

Blue White Roundtable

This is a week of firsts for the Blue-White Roundtable. This is the first BWR after actual games have been played and we are adding another blogger to the ranks. Weclome Alex from The Nittany Blog (he used to write the PSU blog at the MVN network).
TNL brings us the questions for this week. My meager attempts are below but for more thoughtful, funny, and generally better answers please check out BSD, NB, RUTS, and William for the complete round-up.

-Which is worse: having your parachute fail to open while skydiving or
losing to Appalachian State?

Having your parachute fail to open. It isn't even close. Having your parachute not open finishes you quickly where as the poor bastard who crafted this
Poor Brian has to get through the rest of the season. You can't tell me the man who crafted that wouldn't rather be smeared across the tarmac right now.

-Is it too early to worry about the running game?

No. PSU rushed for 236 yards on 48 carries (4.9 yds/carry) and scored 5 TDs. Granted, that is spread out over 10 players but it is still an impressive stat line. Obviosuly everybody would feel better about this if it had come against a major program. There is no need to get worried about the running game. I think Royster looks great, by the way. He shows a commitment to and an explosion through the hole that makes him a really dangerous back.

-Is just a win enough to satisfy you this weekend against Notre Dame or
are there qualifiers on a victory to make it acceptable?

A win is the biggest priority, however, with the announcement that Jimmy Clausen will be starting my wish-list has expanded. Clausen doesn't have to end up deformed or anything, though that is the subject matter of a recurring dream I had last night. I would be fired up if the game simply ended up in several sacks, a couple of turn-overs, and a 20+ point victory for PSU is really all I would want (limited though it may be). I mean who doesn't want to see this guy get a major beat-down?

Lightning Round
-Got a ticket, praying for a ticket, or watching the game somewhere
else this weekend?

I definitely will not be at the game. I live about 2k miles away and I don't have the 1,100 bucks it would cost to make it inside the stadium. My day will be as follows: wake up early, i mean fucking early (a necessity on the west coast to see game-day) 6.30 or so. I'm goin to be smoking about 15-20 Lbs. of ribs from 6.30 to 1 in the afternoon. I picked up a fantastic mustard-based sauce for the ribs, it is going to be phenomenal. Then several friends will be descending on my house to drink, eat, watch football. repeat. I'll be dressed in white and i'm going to start drinking Bloody Marys at around 7.15. I should be a white-clad, handful by the time the game starts.

-What non-PSU game are you looking forward to this weekend?

Holy crap, there are a couple. Early on I'll be tuned in to Oklahoma vs. Miami, later on TCU vs. Texas and LSU vs. VaTech. That isn't the complete list but it is probably all I'll get too.

Another reason to get fired up for ND is the fact that the Students are already camped out for the fucking game. Just awesome. from what I hear the kids at Notre Dame did a great job showcasing the tradition of ND but now it's our turn and the best student section in college football is obviously up for the challenge!

PATERNOVILLE IS BACK!

The Collegian is reporting that Students have moved back into Paternoville!

Just before midnight, a group of about 15 students huddled outside Gate A of Beaver Stadium, laughing and throwing around a football.

But true to university policy, not a single tent or sleeping bag appeared until 12:01 this morning.

I respect their dedication, and it is always awesome to see Paternoville spring up, but for FIU? Oh well, why not!
