The BTN Hooks Me Up

I'm packing up all our junk this morning. So, I'm looking through the channels to put something on in the background while I work. Much to my delight, I discover that the 2006 Michigan vs. Tosu game is on. #1 vs. #2 on a Saturday morning.

Good work Big Ten Network. Next time, can a man get some 2005 PSU vs. TOSU? All i'm sayin.

Comcast Subscribers Rejoice!

The CDT is reporting that Comcast and the Big Ten are going to get a deal done to put the Big Ten Network (BTN) on Comcast. This is probably going to happen by the 2008 football season.

If I were a Comcast subscriber and a Big Ten fan I would be totally fucking psyched. I am a Direct TV subscriber so I've been enjoying the BTN since August 2007. I will tell you, it is good but not great. I do not get the ESPN Gameday Ticket so it is nice to have more football on during the day. Again, it is great that this also focuses on the conference in which my interest is focused. However, I gotta tell ya, the BTN was only great for one weekend; the first weekend of the season. That is when i got to see some of Appy St. vs. Michigan. The PSU game was carried exclusively by the BTN so that was great too. However, for the rest of the year the BTN was ok to good, but never great.

Does anybody know if the Blue-White game is going to be on the BTN? If it were, it would certainly re-fire me up for the BTN.

So, the BTN is good but not great. But get fired up anyway!

The Big Ten Roundtable Week 2

The first week of college football has been,well, ridiculously awesome. I have a lot to live up to as Sean at ATO did an excellent job with Week 1 and really set a great pace for the year. As such, please link your responses in the comments.

I have made an executive decision to not open up this Roundtable to be a Michigan-Free-For-All. If you want to delight in their pain or offer a word of consolation feel free to stop by their excellent blogs. MZone has some very funny stuff up. Brian, @ MGoBlog, basically turned his blog into a kitten/emo extravaganza. MSC ponders the repercussions as we all wait with baited breath for the polls to come out. It seems Dave, @ Maize & Brew, has not yet crawled out of his giant bottle of Maize & Brew after the holiday weekend. If I left out anybody's pain, I'm sorry. Now, lets move on to talk about week 2!

1. Clearly, Week 1 was a huge week for upsets with Appalachin St. beating Michigan and Clemson beating FSU (though if that really shocked anyone I'd be surprised). What are your upset games for Week 2 and why?

2. What do you think about the BTN? How'd it look? How were the announcers? Did the first weekend change your opinion of the BTN?

3. Now that we're a game into the Season evaluate the Big Ten's strength.

The Big Ten Network, PSU, FIU, and Buffalo

Penn State's 2007 TV schedule just got a little more flushed out as it was announced that the BTN will cover both the FIU and Buffalo games. Rejoice! For now you know where to tune in to see Penn State beat two terrible teams! I never thought i'd get a chance to see Penn State play teams like FIU and Buffalo in HD. The crispness with which FIU will suck will be startling!

Some Love From The Big Ten Network

I recently received a letter from the Big Ten Network. It is nice to know that the network is interested in what bloggers have to say about the Big Ten and its new network.

On Monday, May 21^st, I will be sending you an open letter from Mark Silverman, president of the Big Ten Network regarding some key questions/answers that Big Ten fans have about the network. Also, we are planning an open Webchat with Mark Silverman on the www.BigTenNetwork.com site on Thursday, May 24^th at 1:00 p.m. EDT. I hope you can join us.

Big Ten Network: The Penn State Press Conference

Representatives from the new Big Ten Network (BTN) held a press conference recently at Penn State. Here is a link to the video. I, for one, am very excited about the Big Ten Netork. I live in the South West and it can be difficult to satisfy my hunger for PSU football. The new network will give me a great, low cost, alternative to buying the games one at a time from Direct Tv.
I also didn't know that the BTN would be broadcast in both HD and regular definition; very sweet.
